The Comeback

“Feel good in what you wear, do good while you wear it.”

The Comeback is a consignment shop offering great pieces at great prices through a relaxed, fun and welcoming shopping experience for over 40 years. We aim to bridge the gap between sustainable, high-quality fashion by offering styles for every age, budget and body shape, and empowering our customers to feel good in what they wear while also doing good for the planet. We try our best to do this with a casual and approachable personality.

The Comeback has been female owned and operated since it’s inception in 1978. We’ve been proud to be part of the Islington Village community in Etobicoke for just as long.

A familiar face around here, Lisa has been the owner of The Comeback for over 20 years. She was a stay-at-home mom of three girls before embracing, not without trepidation, the adventure of taking over the store from the previous owners. Through the support of our community of customers, consignors, staff, and neighbours, the store has prospered: as the saying goes… it takes a village.

Nowadays you’ll find Lisa taking a backseat, reviewing consignments and processing consignments, while her daughter Kirsten ably and energetically takes the helm. However, if you’re lucky enough, you might catch her doing a ‘Thirsty Thursday’ live video. She’s known for her quirky and catchy laugh and her great sense of humour. Now a proud grandmother of two young ones, she’s become the ‘Nonna Lisa’ of the store.

Fascinated by the store from the day her mom purchased it, Kirsten spent her time after school hanging out in the backroom and absorbing the day to day of retail life. After university, Kirsten pursued a career in corporate retail in Merchandising & Planning at brands like Target and Sephora – all while continuing to work weekends at The Comeback. Her growing passion for sustainability, the environment, and small business led her to make the decision to join her mom fulltime in 2017 to renovate the store for its fortieth anniversary and expand the online shopping experience.

Kirsten started our much-loved Live shopping videos during the pandemic and is the ‘host’ of our regular ‘Winedown Wednesday’ features. She loves chatting and styling customers, increasing the store’s charity initiatives, and fostering the inspiring community we’re proud to be a part of.
